The client file that opens in April with nothing to fix.
Countet is the back office your incorporated clients run all year: invoicing, payroll, expenses, and tax, all posting to a real general ledger automatically. You get clean, current books at year-end instead of a shoebox and a shadow spreadsheet.

You don't need another tool. You need the inputs to be right.
Every April, the same pattern. Payroll ran in one app, the books in another, and the two never quite agreed. Journal entries posted to the wrong account. HST was a number screenshotted into a folder. Somewhere in there is the real story of the business, and you're the one who has to reconstruct it, under deadline, for a fee the client resents paying.
Countet exists so that reconstruction never has to happen. When the owner sends an invoice, runs payroll, or pays a bill, the entry records itself correctly the moment it happens. By the time the file reaches you, the books are already current, already reconciled, already tax-ready. Your work moves from cleanup to advice, which is the work that's actually worth your rate.
Illustrative: based on Accountant Rewards (min 10% or $10 per paying client) and the year-end time saved when the books are already clean.
Built to earn the trust of the person in the room.
- Payroll math you can rely on. CPP, CPP2, EI, and federal/provincial tax are calculated and verified against the CRA's own Payroll Deductions Online Calculator (PDOC). T4s, T4As, and ROEs are generated from data already in the system, not re-keyed.
- A real general ledger underneath. Double-entry, always balanced, with an audit trail on every transaction. Every number on a statement traces back to a source document.
- Tax tracked as it accrues. HST collected and input tax credits, source deductions, and corporate-tax set-aside stay current all year, so nothing gets rebuilt from screenshots in April. Countet exports GST34 figures and a clean year-end data package (T4/T5/T2 inputs).
- A free Accountant seat that never uses a paid seat. Your own login to every client on Countet. No paying for QuickBooks Accountant, no screen-share archaeology, and you can service as many clients as you like at zero seat cost.
The mechanical work, already done.
Depreciation, prepaids, accruals, and deferred revenue arrive as proposed adjusting entries in a review queue. You approve, edit, or reverse each one. A period cannot close while anything is still pending.
Every bank transaction is categorized by confidence, with a plain-language reason attached. High-confidence items can auto-post; the rest wait in an exception queue. Correct one, and the mapping is remembered next time.
Secure Plaid feeds with Canadian data-residency handling. Countet matches deposits to invoices and payments to open vendor bills, and flags a likely duplicate before it doubles up the books.
T4 and T4A slips with CRA Internet File Transfer XML, ROEs from real payroll data, GST34 figures, and PST/QST tracking. The filings your clients depend on, generated from data already posted.
Run your own books here, and clients pay your bill.
Servicing clients on Countet is always free. Accountant Rewards is the second half: the day you also run your own books here, whether that is your firm or a business you own, every qualifying client you look after starts crediting that paid subscription. It is calculated automatically every day. Nothing to claim, no codes to enter.
Credits pool across all of your own subscriptions and spill in order, capped at 100% off each. So about 10 clients makes one plan free, and each additional plan you own starts discounting after that.

- Real clients only. A company you own yourself never counts; only genuinely external businesses earn the reward.
- Paying clients only. A client counts once they're an active paid subscriber, not a free or trial account.
- A 30-day qualifying period. New clients begin counting after their first 30 days on a paid plan, so the reward reflects lasting relationships.

Bring your clients in.
Get invited to a client’s existing books, or stand up a brand-new company for a client and hand them ownership. Owned and serviced clients stay grouped; switch between them in one click, with strict data isolation between them.
The books stay current.
Transactions post to a real general ledger as they happen. Year-end becomes a review queue, not a reconstruction, and every paying client credits your own Countet bill.
We're onboarding our first cohort of accountant partners now, and we'd rather earn your recommendation than script a quote for it. Put a client on Countet, and tell us what it was like to open that file in April.
The questions we get in every partner call.
Does this replace me?
No, and it's built not to. Countet handles the bookkeeping mechanics so you can do advisory, tax planning, and the judgment calls software can't. The owner still needs you; they just don't need you to fix journal entries.
What does it cost me, the accountant?
Nothing to service clients. Your Accountant seat is free and never consumes a paid seat, so you can look after as many clients as you like at zero cost. Accountant Rewards is a separate, optional layer: if you also run your own books on Countet, whether that is your own firm or a business you own, every paying client you service then credits that paid subscription. About ten clients, and your own plan is free.
Can I export the data if a client leaves?
Yes. One-click export to a QuickBooks-compatible format, anytime. No lock-in.
What compliance does it cover?
Canadian payroll (CPP/CPP2/EI/tax, T4/T4A, ROE), GST/HST tracking and GST34 figures plus PST/QST, T2 inputs and GIFI, and a year-end data package.
How current are the books?
Real-time. Transactions post to the ledger as they happen; bank feeds reconcile automatically.
What does it cost the client?
Standard Countet pricing: the Solo plan for a one-person corporation, or a Team stack for a business with people on payroll. The Accountant Access seat is always free, and each of those paying clients earns you an Accountant Rewards credit.
